Saturday and Sunday, July 21-22
9am - 3pm, including lunch
Instructor: Amanda Palmer
This relief printing weekend workshop offers an introduction to the wonderful tools and techniques of the age-old art of block printing. Amanda will present two six-hour sessions in relief (linoleum) printing. The workshop will teach basic relief printing techniques including creating an image, cutting that image into a block and creating prints with a hand printing technique.
Students will work together and receive one-on-one input from the instructor throughout the workshop. Participant's appreciation and understanding of the value of creating artwork will be deepened, and they will come away with prints of their own, the block, and also perhaps, of each others’ work.
Ages 16+ | min 2, max. 15 participants
Fee: $185 | includes $15 materials fee, all instruction, and lunch both days
Amanda has been an art teacher for youth groups, adults and private citizens for 30 years. She enjoys teaching drawing, crafts, and especially woodblock printing to children and adults. She presents this workshop at Zion National Park each year. It is increasingly important to her to model Leave No Trace principles and to speak about her brand of stewardship of the National Parks through her work. Amanda's current focus is to create a series of relief prints from her drawings and photographs.
