Public Programs

the power of collective creativity

Collective Creativity harnesses the diverse experiences, skills, and insights of individuals in the service of collaboration, learning, and open-minded engagement with materials, projects, and issues.

We come together to develop connections within our local Adirondack community (or wherever our programs take place in the world!), nurturing a deep sense of place through people, culture, food, stories, and the exchange of ideas and skills. With a built-in focus on equitable exchange across a wide range of disciplines, Craigardan shares experiences that tie the creative process to larger contexts. This experience leads to new questions and new initiatives; and it generates positive social change through collective creativity.

Join us on the farm, in the studio, at one of our public talks or events, or virtually through our Gardan Journal. Eat good food, get your hands in the dirt, and explore your creativity with us.

THE COMMUNITY FARM

THE GARDAN JOURNAL

The Gardan is an annual publication intended to showcase the work of our community near and far, and foster conversations about creativity and its processes among and across all disciplines. We welcome contributions from artists and thinkers, activists and farmers, and environmentalists and chefs at any and all stages of creative development. LEARN MORE

EVENTS

Join us on campus for our annual Summer Firing Celebration to celebrate the fire that brings us together - with a wood kiln firing, wood-fired pizza, art, and music on the second Saturday in July. Craigardan also supports food justice and social justice summits that convene systems experts and participants to work together annually toward lasting social change. LEARN MORE

WORKSHOPS

Spend a week or more with us in full immersion both on-campus and abroad. We annually offer multi-day workshops for writers, ceramic artists, chefs, and other creatives. International experiences have taken adventurous participants to Sicily and Portugal. Keep an eye on our EVENTS page for upcoming workshops.

Come up to the Applebarn every Friday throughout the residency season. This series of free public talks highlight a broad range of voices and expertise while responding to current cultural and social topics. Talks will be listed on the events page as scheduled. VIEW UPCOMING EVENTS

Teaching fellows, Resident Interns, staff, and local experts offer courses that respond to community and cultural needs, span concepts, and cross disciplines. Traditional and non-traditional topics (including pottery, cooking, fiber, and beyond) create space for learning that surprises and delights, challenges norms, and inspires new ways of thinking.
