Alumni

An International Creative Community

We celebrate the artists and scholars who have been part of the Craigardan residency and we are dedicated to fostering lifelong relationships, encouraging artistic growth, and supporting ongoing creative endeavors.

ALUMNI APPLICATION FORM

Plan your return residency! To streamline the process for alumni, please complete this short form instead of a full application. The review and selection process for alumni is also simplified.

You may still apply for a Craigardan scholarship on the alumni application form. However, to apply for a fellowship or work-exchange, you must use our standard application form

GARDAN JOURNAL SUBMISSIONS

Publish your work in The Gardan Journal! The Gardan is intended to foster conversations about creativity and its processes among and across all disciplines. We welcome contributions from our alumni artists and writers, activists and scholars, farmers, environmentalists, and chefs at any and all stages of creative development. You can find out more about the journal here

ALUMNI FELLOWSHIP

Receive Support! The Alumni Fellowship supports both emerging artists and returning alumni working in any medium whose work would most benefit from the unique type of place-based residency community that Craigardan is known for cultivating. The annual Fellowship provides a scholarship towards a two-week residency which is both funded and awarded by Craigardan Alumni. The amount of award varies by year based on annual alumni giving, and may support one or more artists and scholars each summer. Please donate below to support your fellow alumni.

To be considered for this fellowship: select the option on the standard application form and submit a supporting document with a written statement that tells us how the unique type of place-based residency community at Craigardan would benefit your artistic growth. Why you, why here, why now?

ALUMNI NEWS SUBMISSIONS

Share your work! We encourage you to submit your milestones and achievements to be featured in our Alumni newsletter E-Blast. Have you written a new book? Opened a new studio? Won awards? Have an upcoming show? We want to hear from you so that we can share your updates with the wider community. Please email them to program@craigardan.org

Join us for Alumni Week! Alumni Week is an opportunity to return to campus for a short retreat, to reconnect and meet new fellow alumni, to contribute to our community, and to enjoy a memorable week while helping us prepare for our biggest event of the year—Craigardan’s annual Summer Firing Celebration.

Space is currently limited to 6 artists for the week. Names will be selected through a lottery that will be announced during the winter. Alumni Week takes place in early July. If your name is selected, you’ll join us for:

  • A week-long retreat in a private Artist Cabin on the Main Campus

  • Delicious food from the farm - All food / pantry items are provided for the week, including a Monday Night Dinner to welcome you back.

  • Opportunities for hiking, campfires, swimming, and time to connect with other alumni

  • Studio access and time to work on personal projects

  • A Big Party in the form of our 3rd Annual Summer Firing Celebration

What you will exchange in return for a free week-long residency:

  • 20 hours of volunteer time around the Saturday event

  • Participating in a facilitated round-table talk during the event to share what Craigardan means to you / how your experience informs your work.
