Playing in Earnest: A Life of W.H. Auden in Seven Songs

Guest Speaker/Performer, Aron Dunlap

Free, with donations accepted at the door

Drawing on Freud, Marx, Christian theology and toilet humor, and writing for the cabaret as well as the academy, Auden was the master of profound lightheartedness. In this lecture/performance Aron Dunlap plays original musical settings of seven Auden lyrics and presents the life and thought of one of the great poets of the 20th century.

The audience is invited to stay for a post-lecture encore musical event; a collaborative performance between Aron Dunlap and Joshua Ramey's The Extravagant Bastard Project.  We're certain this is not to be missed.

Aron Dunlap is a songwriter and a professor. He performs as Good Dust and teaches humanities at the Shimer Great Books School at North Central College, outside of Chicago. He is the author of Lacan and Religion.
